Free Church Moderator Rev Calum Iain Macleod and Public Engagement Coordinator Rev Stephen Allison, hosted Ruth Charteris KC, Solicitor General for Scotland and others from the Free Church of Scotland at the National Prayer Breakfast for Scotland at Prestonfield House in Edinburgh last week. He was also joined by Simon Calvert, Deputy Director for Public Affairs at the Christian Institute.
The First Minister, John Swinney MSP brought a reading from Scripture and our Retiring Moderator, Rev Alasdair Macleod, led the live stream prayer for our national leaders from Inverness.
Kate Forbes was the Keynote Speaker and spoke with clarity and conviction on the theme of integrity. She spoke of how none but Jesus live up to the ideal of integrity and how he offers a renewed heart through the gospel. This was followed by an engaging post-breakfast seminar on the same theme.
Calum Iain said: “It was a privilege to join 400 others united in corporate prayer for our nation, the church, our leaders and for those in authority across society. What a tremendous encouragement to bring multiple prayer points before our sovereign God in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Calum Iain was also recently invited to the afternoon session of the General Assembly of the United Free Church of Scotland in Perth.
He said: “As a delegate, representing the Free Church of Scotland, I was received with kindness and enjoyed warm fellowship. It was good to reconnect with old friends, such a Rev Scott Cameron, who ministers in the Highland congregation of Balintore United Free Church.”
