Children & Young People

Young people are an invaluable part of our church family, and the Free Church of Scotland is blessed with having hundreds of young people within our congregations.

As a Church, we want to provide a welcoming, safe place for young people to learn more about God and His Word, to spend time with older Christians, and to be able to ask questions and think through what they believe for themselves.

Sunday Schools or Kids’ Clubs are one way in which we can help young people to grow, to learn more about the Christian faith, and to have time to discuss and ask questions about God’s Word and its relevance to their lives.

It is crucial to teach our children well, in a way that helps them to understand and allows them to interact, and with materials that are engaging and Biblically sound. We have put together a set of resources which are currently being used for children and youth work by various congregations across the denomination (coming soon).

As a denomination, we also provide other opportunities for young people. You can find out more about these below.

Free Church Youth Camps

Free Church Youth Camps are week-long, fun-packed, Christian residential holidays for young people aged 10-18 years. The Free Church of Scotland has been running camps since 1960, and through camp thousands of lives have been positively impacted by the Word of God.

Big Free Rally

The Big Free Rally is an event attended by hundreds of young people from all over the country every September. It’s a brilliant day full of friends, laughter, singing, Bible talks, games and activities.

You don’t need to have been to camp to come along to the Rally – it’s open to everyone in P5 upwards!

Free Church Youth Conference

The Free Church Youth conference is an annual event where young Christians gather for worship, food and fellowship. Open to 18 to 30-year-olds, the conference usually takes place over three-days.

As well as the main talks on a Christian theme, there are a number of workshops on current issues facing young people such as politics, relationships and faith in the workplace.
