Today marks the final day in post for Rev Callum Macleod as Principal Clerk of the General Assembly. He is passing the baton on to Rev Neil Lachlan Macdonald who is set to take up the role.
A presentation took place at the General Assembly today to acknowledge Callum’s hard work and dedication. Speeches were given and Callum and his wife Catherine were presented with gifts.
Free Church Moderator, Rev Calum Iain Macleod, said: “Our Principal Clerk Callum has been a dedicated and faithful servant of our church community since his ordination some 26 years ago.
“The portfolio of our Principal Clerk is demanding and time-consuming at the best of times. We all know that church legislation can be complex. Guiding our church courts and congregations through due process is of course to our Principal Clerk’s remit and he has undertaken this mammoth task over the years admirably.”
The Moderator said Callum has carried out this role with “competence, calmness and composure of a super reliable Principal Clerk”.
He added: “The Free Church of Scotland is indebted to you for your immense contribution, always undertaken with due diligence and good cheer.”
