Through its Disaster and Relief Fund, the Free Church of Scotland has provided support to organisations responding to some of the global urgent humanitarian crises.
The Fund has made donations to World Vision’s Ebola response, as well as to Tearfund’s relief work in the Middle East, Nepal and Venezuela.
The Free Church is grateful to World Vision, and to Tearfund for their practical responses to those affected by these devastating events.
World Vision – Ebola response
Support was given to World Vision as it responded to the Ebola crisis, helping communities affected by the outbreak and supporting efforts to protect vulnerable people and limit the spread of the disease.
Tearfund – Middle East
A donation was made towards Tearfund’s work supporting people affected by conflict and humanitarian crisis in the Middle East. Through local partners, Tearfund provides practical assistance to vulnerable communities, including people who have been displaced from their homes.
Tearfund – Venezuela
The Disaster and Relief Fund has also supported Tearfund’s work in Venezuela, where a prolonged humanitarian crisis has left many families struggling to access basic necessities. Through local churches and partners, Tearfund works to provide practical help and support to those most vulnerable.
Tearfund – Nepal Floods
Following severe flooding in Nepal, support was provided to Tearfund to assist communities affected by the disaster. Local partners work alongside communities to provide emergency relief and help families recover and rebuild following the loss of homes and livelihoods.
The Mission Board would like to encourage churches to continue to pray for these countries in desperate need, for God’s protection and comfort to be known by believers across the global church. Please pray that these organisations would be guided continually by the Lord throughout these appeals and their relief efforts, and that their work would ultimately bring glory to God’s name across the nations.
