You are invited to a series of Area Prayer Gatherings taking place this month and next month.

This week, Area Prayer Gatherings will be taking place place at Smithton Church, in Inverness, on Wednesday evening and Elgin Free Church, in Elgin, on Thursday evening. Doors will be open at both churches at 7pm, for a 7.30pm start.

Five more prayer gatherings will be held across Scotland in September. These Area Prayer Gatherings are part of a year of Thanksgiving and Prayer; giving thanks to God for all that he has done among us in the last five years and praying for the next five years.

The vision of the Free Church of Scotland is for A Healthy Gospel Church for Every Community in Scotland. We recognise that we are completely dependent on God to bring about this vision.

Hundreds of people from across the Free Church of Scotland have met together this year to pray for their communities, for their congregations and for God to move mightily in this nation. We’re thankful for the Area Prayer Gatherings that have taken place this year. Before the summer break, gatherings were held in Thurso, Dornoch, Lewis, Harris and Uist.

There is much to pray for as we look to the future. In the upcoming gatherings, we will be praying for our spiritual health as Christians, praying for each of our churches, praying for new ministers and new church plants, praying for the effectiveness of our mission and discipleship. We will also be praying for our presbyteries, praying for ETS, and the Board of Ministry and the Mission Board, and the General Assembly.  And praying most of all for God to be at work among us so that many people hear and respond to the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The prayer meetings start at 7.30pm but doors will be open from 7pm with the opportunity for conversation and a cup of tea.
