Engage 2026 is a national prayer initiative calling every believer to commit to praying for those who do not yet know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. Over time, our prayer is that this initiative will continue to deepen our understanding that prayer and mission are inseparable, and that every believer takes personal responsibility to pray for those around them.
During this year of prayer, we are inviting people to share experiences from their churches which may help and encourage congregations. Rev Dan Paterson, of Poolewe and Aultbae Free Church, has shared some thoughts about how Engage 2026 has impacted their congregation.
Engage 2026 has been a real blessing to our congregation. When it was launched, we introduced it at our Sunday services and handed out the prayer bookmarks. Within a week, we were already hearing encouraging stories of the Lord answering specific prayers.
One of the great benefits for us has been the fresh boost it has given to prayer. Engage 2026 has encouraged us as a congregation to move prayer from something general to something much more deliberate and personal. It has encouraged us to bring particular people before the Lord, to pray with greater focus, and to do so with renewed confidence that he hears and answers prayer.
Every congregation will have its own stories to tell, but for us, Engage 2026 has helped lift our eyes again to the Lord. It has strengthened our confidence in prayer and reminded us that God is still at work among us, around us, and through us.
