The 22nd of January 2022 was a special day in the life of Oban Free Church as Rev. Iain Morrison was ordained and inducted into the congregation having previously served in Roskeen Free Church for four years with Rev. Callum MacMillan.
The service was attended not only by congregational members but by friends and family from far and wide including Iain’s sons Johnny and Christopher as well as Iain’s daughter Abbie and her husband who had travelled from Wales to mark the occasion.
The service was led by Rev. Allan Shearer minister of Dunblane Free Church who preached from 2 Timothy 1:1-17; 2:1-13.
After the formal elements of the service had taken place Moderator, Rev. Roger Crooks congratulated Iain. Rev. Colin Dow, Glasgow City, and Rev. Ian Watson, Hope Church Blackwood and Kirkmuirhill, followed – both giving words of counsel and encouragement.
Interim Moderator Rev. Iain MacAskill, was, unfortunately, unable to attend but sent a message saying that he was “so pleased for Iain and the Oban Congregation” and he had “very much enjoyed his time as Interim Moderator.
He went on to say that he was “praying for God’s blessing on everyone for this special day” adding, “This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
Mr Morrison thanked Mr Shearer and all present and was thankful to everyone who had attended including childhood friends and friends from Rosskeen who had travelled to Oban.
After the customary speeches, the evening ended with refreshments and a time of celebration.
Please pray for Mr Morrison as he continues his ministry in Oban.
