Youth Worker (24 hours per week)
Applications are invited for the position of Youth Worker at Bon Accord Free Church.
The Youth Worker will be responsible for directing the work among students and young workers in the congregation. This will be done as a member of, and in coordination with, the Youth Work Team which assists with the work among students and young workers.
The Youth Worker will have the principal responsibility for ensuring that the actions agreed by the Youth Work Team are carried out (be that by the Youth Worker, other members of the team, or others).
The Youth Worker will also be tasked with pastoral oversight responsibilities for the students and young workers of the congregation. As appropriate this oversight may involve direct pastoral care or the seeking out of others more suited to the task.
On occasion the Youth Worker may be assigned other tasks by the Kirk Session and / or minister. This will only take place with the agreement of the Youth Worker and without prejudice to the performing of the principal duties outlined above.
The Youth Worker will report to the minister of the congregation.
Given the nature of the responsibilities entailed in the position it is a requirement that the Youth Worker be (or be willing to become) a member of the congregation.
There is an Occupational Requirement under the Equality Act 2010 for the post holder to demonstrate a firm Christian commitment. As such, the successful candidate will be a Christian with an active commitment and sympathetic to the values, aims and ethos of the Free Church.
The salary for the position is £13,440 (based on a full-time equivalent salary of £19,600).
In the event that a suitable candidate wished to discuss the possibility of more or less hours there is a measure of flexibility possible.
The manner in which the 24 hours would be distributed in a given working week would be subject to agreement between the employer and the Youth Worker.
