Passing of Rev. Kenny MacDonald

January 22, 2018
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Rev. Kenny MacDonald, former minister of Rosskeen Free Church of Scotland. He was 83.

Kenny was born in Skye in 1935.  After National Service, he worked for the Department of Customs & Excise in several locations before entering the Free Church College in 1980. It was while he was a student there that the family learned that their 19-year-old daughter, Alison, had disappeared while on holiday with a friend in Kashmir. Despite extensive efforts and around 20 trips which Kenny and Reta made to India, Alison was never found.
Rev. Kenny MacDonald
Kenny was ordained as minister at Rosskeen Free Church in 1984 where he spent 11 years before retiring due to ill health. His ministry was both unique and inspirational. The Rosskeen manse was an open home, a place where people with all kinds of difficulties could come and find a truly sympathetic heart in both Kenny and Reta. Kenny’s preaching was powerfully clear and focused, yet always accompanied with a unique and Spirit-filled display of tenderness which drew many in the community to faith in Christ.

Despite contracting Multiple Sclerosis which forced him to retire from Roskeen, Kenny remained active as a preacher until very recently.
We extend our deepest and prayerful sympathies to Kenny’s wife, Reta, their children: Mairi, Alison, Sam, Derek, and the wider family. A full tribute along with funeral details will follow.
