Smithton Free Church has secured a new Assistant Minister after Rev. Innes Macsween accepted the call to serve the congregation.
Lewis born Rev. Macsween has been part of the Free Church family for many years having attended Cross Free Church as a youngster and regularly attending Free Church Camps. It was during one of these camps that he became a Christian at the age of 13.
Former Glasgow University Christian Union President, Rev. Macsween began his theological studies at Edinburgh Theological Seminary in 2014 and graduated this year.
Rev. Macsween said, "I'm honoured and delighted to be taking up this new role as Assistant Minister at Smithton Church. It seemed so clear to me to come here, and I feel very blessed by the Lord for the opportunity I have to learn from Alasdair and the elders while joining the team here. I'm honoured to serve Smithton and the Lord in my work to the students and the 20's/30's, alongside the privilege of faithfully preaching the Word and pastoring with the rest of the team.
"I'm already blown away by the warmth and kindness I've experienced from the people here, and I'm excited to be coming alongside them all as we fulfil the Great Commission together!
"In an age where many think it irrelevant, please pray for us in our work reaching our city and our communities with the always relevant Gospel. We're all broken in a broken world, so there's nothing truer and better and more necessary than becoming new people in and through Jesus Christ!"
