The 2016 Lewis Christian Conference is being held in Stornoway Free Church, Kenneth Street, next weekend.
This year’s guest speaker is Alistair Begg, senior pastor of Cleveland’s Parkside Church, Ohio, and the conference runs from Friday 24 to Monday 27 June.
The theme for the conference is ‘looking to Jesus’, with a brief schedule below:
Friday 24 June 7.30pm The Kingdom of God is at Hand – Mark 1: 14-39
Saturday 25 June 7.30pm This Scripture Fulfilled – Luke 4: 16-30
Monday 27 June 7.30pm I Who Speak to You Am He – John 4: 1-4
On Sunday 26 June Mr Begg will preach at Lochs Free Church, Crossbost, at 11am and then Stornoway Free Church in the evening at 6.30pm. There will be a fellowship in the M.A. Memorial Hall in Stornoway at 8.30pm, at which the pastor will speak.
Mr Begg (pictured above) is the voice behind the Truth for Life Christian radio preaching and teaching ministry that broadcasts his sermons daily to stations across the United States.
He is a strong advocate of historic Protestant Evangelical theology; emphasising his belief in the importance of believing the Bible to be the completely authoritative Word of God, and the importance of using the mind to know the Bible and knowing God through repentance and faith in Jesus.
After graduating from the London School of Theology in 1975 he served eight years in Scotland at Charlotte Chapel in Edinburgh and Hamilton Baptist Church in Lanarkshire. Mr Begg has been pastor at Parkside Church since 1983.
He is a Council member of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals. He was educated at Trent University and Westminster Seminary.
