Kincraig Girls Camp - Report

August 3, 2017

31 girls arrived in Kincraig full of excitement for the week ahead. Old friendships were renewed and new friendships were made. The rain on the first day did not dampen our spirits and we got on with getting to know each other through different games and activities. Saturday also saw the first of our surprise challenges where one person from each of the dorm groups had to come and do a challenge to gain points for their team. And what do points make? Prizes of course, which were handed out on Friday after the camp concert.

On Sunday, we received a warm welcome from the people at Smithton church and we learnt what was to become our song of camp – Grace. It is a beautiful hymn with wonderful words and the girls learnt this so well by the end of the week.

In a packed programme, the girls enjoyed many activities including Landmark, raft building, canoeing, crafts, shopping, swimming, ten pin bowling, beach fun and a running table tennis competition throughout the week. There wasn’t a second to be bored and everyone took part in all activities – especially well done to those who found one or two of the activities challenging, but they tried them out and enjoyed them.

Of course, camp would not be camp without the camp duties to be done. The snazzy sweepers, the dust busters, the mini mops, the teenie cleanies and the groovy hoovers all worked hard to keep on top of the dishes, the dining room, the house and the buses.

Our two cooks worked tirelessly all week producing home cooked food which was enjoyed by the whole camp. It was great to see them getting involved with the campers and enjoying their week too.

At our evening meetings, we worked through the book of Ruth. There is so much there for a group of young ladies to study together. We thought about the choices we have to make, loyalty, living for God and we thought about how to become a Christian. Good discussions followed each meeting in our dorm discussion groups.

The camp was active, it was fun and it was blessed. We give thanks for these campers and for the Kincraig girls team. It was a great week and we pray for God to continue to bless all that was said and done over the week.
