2021 General Assembly
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, The Free Church of Scotland's General Assembly will once again be held online. Commissioners usually gather in St Columba's Free Church at the top of Edinburgh's Royal Mile in May. However, the 2021 Assembly will meet via Zoom to conduct business beginning on the evening of Monday 17th May at 6 PM.
The Assembly will meet for five Sessions, with two Sessions each on Tuesday and Wednesday in addition to the Monday evening Session, with the expectation that the business will be concluded by 5.00pm on Wednesday.
The Assembly will take up reports from all the main Boards and Committees of the Church with encouraging updates on an overall strategy for the Free Church and on ongoing work in church planting and church revitalisation.
Reports from various Boards are available to view here: https://freechurch.org/resources/assembly-reports
Each year a new Moderator is installed to lead and conduct the proceedings of the General Assembly.
Rev. Donnie G. Macdonald, Moderator of the 2019 General Assembly, was re-appointed to the role at the 2020 Assembly due to limited business and to provide continuity in the Church’s engagement with its people during the COVID-19 pandemic. He will step down this year to make way for Rev. Neil MacMillan, Minister of Cornerstone in Edinburgh, and who is also the Free Church of Scotland's Church Planting Director.

The dates for the 2022 General Assembly will be announced at the close of this year’s Assembly in the hope that in-person meetings will be permitted as we move out of COVID-19 Scottish Government restrictions.
The Assembly will be available to view here from 6 PM on Monday: https://freechurch.org/online-services/live.
