The Free Church Youth Conference saw over 160 young people meet together at Lendrick Muir Activity Centre last weekend.
Guest speaker Rev. Calum Iain Macleod of Back Free Church, Lewis, spoke on “Training for Godliness". Using the Apostle Paul’s directions to Timothy (1 Timothy 4:7), Rev. Macleod encouraged those in attendance to be disciplined readers and doers of the Word.
Sarah Johnson from the Free Church Mission Board said, “The feedback I’ve received from the weekend has been fantastic. It’s great to see so many young people who are enthusiastic about God and willing to develop their relationships with Him.”
“All the talks were engaging and I personally found them to be helpful and inspiring.”
The conference held several seminars over the weekend: Apologetics, Meditating on God’s Word, Christianity and Mental Health and Gender Roles in the Church.
Attendee Ceit MacMillan said the seminars, ”were very encouraging and challenging. I would highly recommend others to book their place for next year.”
On Sunday evening the delegates joined with Stirling Free Church for their evening service. The service was moved to Stirling University Campus to accommodate the increase in numbers.
Plans are currently under way for 2018’s conference to be held over the weekend of 16th – 18th March. Guest speaker will be Edinburgh Theological Seminary Principal Iver Martin.
