With the start of the Free Church Youth Camps programme only four weeks away, congregations across Scotland will this weekend participate in a special camps-themed weekend.
It has been organised to help raise awareness, funds and prayer support for camps over the summer.
Over 300 youngsters and more than 70 leaders will be attending various camps across the UK throughout July and August.
New camps supervisor Clive Bailey said: “In order to raise awareness, funds and prayer support for the Camps programme, 7th and 8th June has been designated Free Church Youth Camps Weekend.
“There are several ways that people can help, such as fund-raising activities for children who cannot afford to go to camp and for leaders’ camp fees.
“We are grateful to Deacons’ Courts which have supported the Camps by making donations to help to cover these costs, and we encourage others to do likewise!
“Please support whatever fund-raising activities are taking place in your locality.”
Mr Bailey continued: “One of the ways you can raise awareness of the Camps programme is by showing in your congregation the short video publicising the 2014 Camps, if you haven’t done so already.
“God has blessed richly the ministry of the camps in the Free Church of Scotland for more than 50 years.
“Please include the camps in prayer in the public worship services on Sunday 8th June, and encourage everyone to uphold in their personal prayers this wonderful and exciting opportunity to serve our God and to bring the good news of the gospel to so many young lives.”
Any congregation requiring a link to download the video can contact the camps administrator by emailing [email protected]
