Newly established Covenant Church, Newmilns inducted their first minister at the weekend.
The congregation was admitted to The Free Church of Scotland by the General Assembly in 2015 and recently called Rev. Benjamin Wilks to serve as their new minister.
Over 140 people assembled for the occasion in Morton Hall, Newmilns. The service was conducted by the Rev. Ivor MacDonald, Coatbridge, who preached from Acts 10, the account of Peter’s visit to Cornelius.
Mr Wilks was addressed by Rev. Finlay MacKenzie and then the congregation by the interim moderator, Rev. Angus Howat.
Presentations were made on behalf of the congregation to Mr Wilks and his family as well as others who had assisted the congregation in the interim.
A native of Watford and a graduate of Manchester and Glasgow Universities, Mr Wilks had a career in electrical engineering before entering ETS to study for the ministry.
Please pray for him, for his family, Joanna his wife and their three children as well as the new Free Church congregation at Covenant Church that God will work through them in the days to come.
