Cornerstone Appoint New Pastoral Worker

August 10, 2017

Cornerstone, a Free Church of Scotland church plant in Edinburgh, recently appointed AnnaLauren Packer as their new Pastoral Worker. Starting in mid-August, AnnaLauren will be helping to strengthen ties with the local Morningside community and build on the work that has already been done.

Cornerstone minister Rev. Neil MacMillan explained the vision the church has for the community and how AnnaLauren's appointment will help support it, "Cornerstone wants to be a treasured part of the Morningside and Bruntsfield communities in Edinburgh. We want to make such a valuable contribution to the neighbourhood that if Cornerstone ceased to exist it would be genuinely missed by the wider community."

"Cornerstone already runs a very successful toddler group in the area and is in the process of developing a Community Volunteer Programme providing volunteers for local charities. In order to develop these opportunities, we have appointed a Women and Pastoral Worker on a part time contract for the next three years."

"As well as developing our work in the local area AnnaLauren will also be responsible for leading discipleship amongst women and children – two groups where Cornerstone has seen steady growth over the last couple of years."

AnnaLauren has lived in Morningside for many years and has been part of Cornerstone since the original core group began to meet. She has previously worked for The Navigators Ministries UK, as a Housing Adviser and as a Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator.

AnnaLauren is also leading a team from Cornerstone in promoting an exciting event this November:

A night of music blending folk, country and gospel, starring Sandra McCracken and Melanie Penn from Nashville and New York City

Singer songwriters Sandra McCracken and Melanie Penn perform songs that touch on relationships, justice, faith and hope. The event is in conjunction with International Justice Mission - a global organisation protecting the poor from slavery and other forms of violence in the developing world.
