Scott Matheson, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Free Church of Scotland since 2015, is to step down from his role to take up a new position outside the Church.
In addition to leading the office team Scott has overseen and supported the Board of Trustees in improvements in governance, financial strategy, planning and property. Scott will continue in the role as CEO until late September 2020 and will support the Board in securing a replacement.
Scott said: “It has been a real privilege to serve as CEO for the last 5 years. The Church and congregations have tremendous impact across the country, and I have been continually amazed and inspired by the support given by colleagues and volunteers in pursuing the mission. Whilst I will be leaving in the autumn for a new role I will continue to actively support the Church.”
Donald Forsyth, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, said: “I would like to thank Scott for the significant contribution he has made to the life of the Church. We will be sorry to see him moving on but wish him every blessing in his new endeavour.
“A sub-group of the Board has already met by video conference to work on arrangements for the securing of a new CEO. This is a key role for the Church which we will be advertising in due course.”
