The Free Church of Scotland's 'Appeal for India' has seen a fantastic response since it was launched by the Mission Board two weeks ago. Having raised over £18,000 in the first five days the total now stands at just under £41,000.
The urgent appeal was established to support those in central India who have been desperately affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Mission Board has agreed to match the first £5000 raised while the Government will also contribute 25%, through the Gift Aid scheme, on top of donations given by those who have indicated that they are UK taxpayers.
Free Church Mission Board Chairman, Rev. Bob Akroyd, said, "We at the Mission Board are delighted and humbled by the generosity of all who have contributed to this appeal."
"These donations are a tangible expression of our prayerful concern and love for the people of India. Over many generations, men and women from the Free Church have served in India, and it is great to retain this connection now in vital partnership with local churches and their leaders."
The Free Church of Scotland has been supporting ministries in India for many years and hopes to continue to help at this difficult time.
You can donate here until the 30th of May. Please use "Appeal For India" as a reference.
