Five days ago the Free Church of Scotland's Mission Board launched an urgent appeal to support those in central India who have been desperately affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Mission Board had agreed to match the first £5000 of received donations, and in less than a week, the total raised so far is over £18,000.
The Government will also contribute 25%, through the Gift Aid scheme, on top of donations given by those who have indicated that they are UK taxpayers. This means the final total will likely exceed £20,000 by the end of May
Free Church Mission Board Chairman, Rev. Bob Akroyd, said, "We at the Mission Board are delighted and humbled by the generosity of all who have contributed to this appeal."
"These donations are a tangible expression of our prayerful concern and love for the people of India. Over many generations, men and women from the Free Church have served in India, and it is great to retain this connection now in vital partnership with local churches and their leaders."
The Free Church of Scotland has been supporting ministries in India for many years and hopes to continue to help at this difficult time.
You can donate here until the 30th of May. Please use "Appeal For India" as a reference.
