Free Church Youth Camps Connect event was a huge hit!
FCYC Connect

For the second year running, Free Church Youth Camps (FCYC) was forced to cancel their summer programme due to Covid. Undeterred, the organisers decided to launch a new online event earlier this month called Connect that brought together campers from around the country for a series of evening events.

From Monday to Friday around 100 young people from P4 – S6 logged into Zoom, taking part in challenges, games and quizzes while also hearing testimonies and Bible talks throughout the sessions.

Camps coordinator Kirsten Macdonald said, “It was brilliant to have so many young people joining together for the week, to hear how much they got from the Bible talks and discussions, and to see all the fun they were having!”

“We’re so grateful to the leaders who put so much work into the planning and preparation for Connect, and who managed to maintain their usual FCYC energy levels throughout the week!”

“We’d also like to thank all those who prayed for the week. We’re looking forward to in-person camps resuming in 2022!”

The campers were asked to give some feedback at the end of the week, here are a few of their comments:

“The talks were really good and helpful and great to listen to.”

“I love the great ideas for the games and the talks were good for helping me to learn more about the armour of God.”

“I loved how easy Connect made learning about God.”

“We loved the breakout rooms and enjoyed listening to others answers!”

“The best thing about Connect was learning more about God and meeting other Christians.”

“I really enjoyed meeting everyone and learning more about God.”

“The best thing was being able to get a part of the camp feeling from home through talks and discussions.”

“The best thing about Connect was seeing familiar faces and connecting with old friends.”
