Death of Former Moderator

Former Free Church of Scotland Moderator, Rev. Kenneth Macleod, has died.

The Free Church has learned with sadness of the passing on Tuesday, 2nd May of one of its retired ministers, and former Moderator, Rev. Kenneth Macleod.

Mr Macleod’s first congregation was Tain Free Church. He then served as pastor in the MacLean congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Eastern Australia until he was called to Barvas Free Church in 1996. He was appointed Moderator of the General Assembly in 1999, a time of crisis in the Free Church of Scotland, which required the kind of experience and wisdom that Kenneth possessed.

He retired in 2001 and went to live in MacLean, where he recently celebrated his 90th birthday.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Kenneth’s widow, Catherine and their family.
