- The General Assembly direct the Assembly Clerks to widen the group of those eligible for selection as Moderator-designate of the Assembly to include any minister with over ten years’ experience in the Free Church ministry and who has experience of moderating a Presbytery or chairing a board or committee of the Church in that time.
- They further direct that the group with responsibility for selecting the Moderator-designate, currently comprised of the chairmen of the Board and Committees of the Church, be expanded to include one representative from each Presbytery.
- They endorse the Board of Trustees’ proposal that the Moderator-designate be appointed up to two years in advance, with the next two Moderators identified on a rolling annual basis.
- The General Assembly instruct that the Mission Director, Assembly Clerks’ Department and immediate past Moderator should identify and plan activities or events where the Moderator’s assistance, input or participation may be beneficial to the Church, subject, if necessary, to budgetary provision being available.
