Burghead Free Church Completes Refurbishment
April 13, 2017
In celebration of their recently completed church refurbishment project, Burghead Free Church are inviting people from across the wider Church to join them for a service of celebration and thanksgiving on Friday 9th June at 7.30pm. The congregation are especially keen to welcome the many who have supported the project with finance and prayer over the last year.
Just 10 months after launching the project, £140,000 of refurbishments have recently been completed within the 19th century building which was in need of modernisation to fulfill the requirements of the expanding congregation and help serve the local community.
A new heating system was installed as well as brand new flooring, a new doorway and refreshments kiosk. To raise additional funds, the pews were also sold off making way for 120 new chairs. Modern audio visual facilities were also added.
Earlier this month locals were invited to view the building at the opening service, which was standing room only.
Church Worker Peter Turnbull said, “We are delighted with how the renovations have turned out. The building is now a wonderful tool to help us share the gospel within the community and we've been welcoming newcomers to all of our 'Season of Invitation' services over the last month.
Highlands and Islands MSP Douglas Ross lodged a motion in parliament congratulating the congregation on the new renovations.
Mr Ross said, “It’s encouraging to see how locals rallied around this project and Mr. Turnbull must be commended for his leadership.”
A warm invitation is extended to all to the thanksgiving service in Friday 9th June, 7.30pm at Burghead Free Church, Grant Street, Burghead, IV305UQ.
