Media enquiries

As one of Scotland’s leading and growing national churches, the Free Church is always willing to provide an unwavering Christian voice on a range of topics.

The kind of things we have spoken about in the past, are:

  • religious education
  • marriage and the family unit
  • assisted suicide and medical ethics
  • gambling
  • freedom of speech
  • the demands of fundamentalist secularists trying to banish Christianity from the public square

Please direct all media enquiries in the first instance to the Free Church offices in Edinburgh, which are open normal office hours on Monday to Friday 0131 226 5286.

Who we are not - Free Church myths busted!

The Wee Frees

The term ‘Wee Free’ was coined in 1900 in reference to the minority of Free Church members who chose not to merge with the United Free Church of Scotland. As far as we know, none of the church members from 1900 are still alive. If used in reference to the present-day Free Church of Scotland, it is seen as a derogatory and offensive slur. Besides anything else, ‘wee’ is not a suitable nickname for a denomination that is represented throughout Scotland, has its main offices and seminary in the heart of Edinburgh, maintains a consistent presence on the mission field and organises camps for hundreds of children every year.
